One, two, three, taking care of me

Last week I posted a little saying my daughter told me about. I’ll repeat it”

“One, two, three, I’m taking care of me.”

Why are we so reluctant to put ourselves first? Why do we think we don’t deserve it? Why do we think people will think worse of us if we do? And why does it matter what people think anyway?

I’ve taken a couple of long naps this week due to the ongoing situation I’m faced with. I know it shouldn’t stress me out so much but it does. I don’t have to explain it, justify it or anything else “it”.

You don’t either.

The more I read the Gospels, the more I’m impressed with Jesus’s knowing His human limits

  • knowing when He needed to avoid the crowds
  • knowing when He needed to remove Himself from everyone
  • knowing when He needed to laugh at a dinner party
  • knowing when He needed to let others see His anger.

And he never explained His actions.

I’m going to continue to do what I need to do for me for the long haul. I owe to myself and yes, I owe it to the people I love.

That’s why Jesus took care of Himself. He wasn’t being selfish-that would have been impossible. He took care of Himself so He could continue to heal, preach and take care of others. That’s why we take of ourselves. It’s the least selfish thing we do.

So let’s all repeat:

One, two, three, I’m taking care of me.

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
