(3.) You’re Not Weak But Actually Strong If You Need God’s Strength.

Fear isn’t weakness. It is strength in hiding.

Psalm 34:4 — “I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”

How Fear Loses Its Power

Fear shrinks our sense of self. It whispers that we’re not enough—not strong enough, wise enough, brave enough. And sometimes, we believe it, letting those negative thoughts dictate our actions and decisions. Consequently, we try to push through alone, thinking that needing help is a flaw. We think that need is an admission of defeat.

However, Scripture flips that lie on its head, reminding us that seeking God isn’t a sign of weakness. Instead, it’s a declaration of wisdom and an acknowledgment that in vulnerability is strength.

God Equips Us

When we turn to Him, we’re not giving up; we’re giving over our burdens, fears, and doubts, trusting in His divine plan for us. We’re trading self-reliance for divine strength. We embrace the truth that we don’t have to shoulder our problems alone. And in that exchange, fear loses its power, dissipating like morning fog. We are no longer carrying it alone. We’re being carried by a loving God who supports us through every challenge. He reminds us that we are enough in His eyes.

If we’re caught in an undercurrent, what are we told to do? We are supposed to relax and let the current take us till it dissipates, and we can swim back. When we find ourselves sliding out of control on a slippery highway, what are we to do? We aren’t supposed to jerk the steering wheel and try to straighten the car. If we do, we’ll flip over. In almost all crises, the first step is always to quit fighting. It’s the same with fear.

Don't fight fear. Acknowledge. When you do, it subsides.

Real-Life Example

You’re overwhelmed by a financial decision you have to make. You are scared. You’ve done your homework, but you are still unsure what the next step is. Fear has stopped you from making any decision. But instead of pretending “I’ve got this”, you whisper, “God, I need You.” And in that moment, you feel at peace—not because the situation changed, but because you’re no longer facing it alone.

Picture yourself in a situation where you’ve been offered a new job opportunity that could potentially take your career to the next level. It’s a challenging role with greater responsibilities and opportunities for growth, but it also comes with a level of uncertainty and risk. As you weigh the pros and cons, you find yourself feeling scared and anxious about making such a significant decision.

You admit your fear of the future in prayer, and after a few days, you sense God leading you to go for it. You take the job in faith.

Reflection Prompt

Where have you been trying to “handle” fear alone? What would it look like to invite God in and let His strength carry what you can’t?

Call To Action

💪 Your Strength Shift Invite God into that space where your fear lives. Whisper a prayer. Ask for strength. Or simply rest in the truth that you don’t have to muscle through it alone.
