Pursuing your purpose in life will bring you great joy
Not living our purpose brings discouragement
Table of Contents
Living our purpose is what gets us up in the morning with excitement. Yesterday I wrote about the importance of not growing weary of doing good. This was mostly in regard to our spiritual gifts. Yesterday, the spiritual gift was the gift of giving. I shared how it’s easy to get discouraged when you’re always the giver and never the receiver. I shared how it’s important to be a receiver as well and ask for help from others when needed.
For some reason, my thoughts went to my book, “More”, which addresses finding God’s purpose for our lives, for which I use the word “more” instead of purpose.
As I thought about it, I thought about the times I get discouraged myself because my own spiritual gifts seem to be undervalued. A light bulb went off so I’m going to update, or at least make sure I’ve covered, this area in my book.

Embrace our purpose
What this boils down to is that when we don’t fully embrace our more, when we get tired of practicing it, that’s when we get discouraged. That’s when we have a pity party. And that’s when we get tired and weary of doing good. Therefore, we need to remember when we’re discouraged or down to ask ourselves, does it have anything to do with a neglect of our more?
Here are some questions we can ask ourselves.

So, here are some questions you can ask yourself to help identify if you’re not fully living out your God-given purpose.
Questions to ask ourselves
- Am I Passionate about what I’m doing? Passion is often a strong indicator of being aligned with your purpose. If you find yourself lacking enthusiasm or feeling unfulfilled in your current activities, it may be a sign that you’re not living out your more.
- Do I Feel a Sense of Fulfillment? Reflect on whether your current actions bring you a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Are you making a meaningful impact on others or the world around you? If not, you may need to realign your actions with your purpose.
- Am I Using My Gifts and Talents? God has blessed each of us with unique gifts and talents. Are you using yours to their fullest potential? If you feel like you’re not utilizing your strengths in your current pursuits, it might be time to explore how you can incorporate them more effectively.
- Does it Align with my Values and Beliefs? Your purpose should align with your core values and beliefs. If there is a disconnect between what you’re doing and what you truly believe in, it could be a sign that you’re not fulfilling your God-given purpose.
- Am I Making a Positive Impact? Consider whether your actions are positively impacting others and the world around you. Living out your purpose often involves serving and uplifting others in some way. If you feel like you’re not making a meaningful impact, it might be time to reassess your path.
- Am I Living Authentically? Are you being true to yourself and living authentically? Sometimes, we get caught up in societal expectations or other people’s visions for our lives, which can lead us away from our true purpose. Make sure you’re living in alignment with your authentic self.
- Do I Feel a Sense of Inner Peace? Pay attention to your inner state. If you’re feeling restless, anxious, or unfulfilled, it could be a sign that you’re not living in alignment with your purpose. Inner peace and contentment are often indicators that you’re on the right path.
Concluding
Reflecting on these questions and being honest with yourself can help you gain clarity on whether you’re fully living out your God-given purpose. Remember that the journey towards fulfilling your purpose is a continuous process of self-discovery and growth. Trust in God’s plan for you and stay open to the signs and opportunities that come your way.
Here’s wishing you a blessed rest of your week.
