A wonderful weekend, surgical boot and all.
Wonderful weekend.
We had such a wonderful weekend. My husband decided we needed to get away as I had been stuck inside since before Christmas. I had always wanted to go to Nashville, Indiana. Yes, Indiana, not Tennessee. It was only five hours away so it was doable.
Nashville, Indiana is in Brown County. It’s noted for its state park by the same name. We drove through that as well and it was barren now, of course but I could imagine how beautiful it is in the fall, especially.
Of course, we stopped three times to have lattes. But that’s our thing. We love coffee shops. When it was time for lunch, we ended up here. For me this was the highlight of the trip. This was such a cute place. It’s called Cooper’s Alley. And later, I will tell you about our amazing lunch.

Inside dining area
This is what you see when you walk in and then the rooms kind of meander. It was once a home.

I love the light fixtures and the high bookshelves. Wait till I tell my husband I want to try this at our cabin! We sat in a little nook at the end of the hallway you see here.
We sat in the back which would be through this book-lined room and to the right at the end where you see the door. Don’t you love all the blue books?

Outside dining rooms
Outside there were all these rooms. Here’s a peek inside some of them. They were heated as well.

But the best part was the food. I’ve never had a grilled cheese like this before and the fries were amazing. I talked to the waiter and she told me how everything was prepared so I could share it with you. So here’s the recipe:
The sandwich is cheddar cheese, goat cheese, spinach, bacon, very thin slices of apples, and spread with onion jam.
And the french fries (both white and sweet potatoes, were shoestring size, fried in white truffle oil and sprinkled with sea salt. Best grilled sandwich and fries I’ve ever had.

I can’t wait to try this sandwich. This was one of the best weekend trips ever.
Feel blessed that I am recovering so well. God has been so faithful throughout all this. I’ve had lots of time to think and plan. It wasn’t all bad and soon I’ll be out of this boot. Probably, won’t be able to walk two miles a day right away, but I’ll get there.
I’m just glad I know I will get better. But so many others don’t know that. There are at least five people I know who are struggling with serious health issues that far outweigh my temporary issue.
It helps to keep a good perspective, doesn’t it?
Anyway, have a great rest of your week.
God bless.
