Are you a victim of your circumstances? Let me answer that for you.
NO!
You are a victim only if you allow yourself to be. But easier said than done, sometimes. I hope this post will help.
Shape your own future
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel like we’re swept along by the currents of life. But what if we were to challenge that notion and take control of our own destinies? Imagine a life where, instead of merely reacting to circumstances, we actively shape our futures.
As long as we think of ourselves as victims, we will remain victims.
As Christians, we believe that shaping our futures means within God’s will. But that doesn’t mean God doesn’t expect us to do our part. Keep this in mind while you read the rest of this post.
Be proactive to avoid being a victim
This empowering mindset is about being proactive, about making conscious choices that align with our deepest goals and values. It means stepping out of our comfort zones, embracing challenges, and taking calculated risks. By doing so, we unlock incredible potential and set ourselves on a path to fulfillment and success.

Granted, it’s not always easy. Life will throw obstacles our way, testing our resolve and tempting us to revert to old patterns. However, with a strong sense of purpose and determination, we can stay firmly in the driver’s seat.
Create the life YOU want
Seize the opportunity to create the life you desire. Let go of any limiting beliefs that hold you back and actively seek fresh paths. Trust God will direct you. (Proverbs 3:5 & 6) Remember, you have the power to shape your own destiny. Embrace it, own it, and watch as your life transforms in magnificent ways.
Challenges and setbacks are inevitable. However, it is important to remember that how we respond to these obstacles defines our success. Rather than feeling a victim, it is crucial to actively seek solutions and take decisive action. While circumstances may sometimes seem overwhelming, they do not define you. Instead, they present opportunities for growth and transformation.
Surround yourself with positive influences.
Having mentors who have overcome similar challenges can be incredibly beneficial. Seek mentors who inspire and guide you on your journey and can offer practical advice to help you overcome obstacles. They can share their wisdom, lessons learned, and strategies that worked for them, which can save you time and energy on your own journey. Why keep reinventing the wheel? Besides, most people are thrilled to be asked how they achieved what they did.
In addition to mentors, it is also important to surround yourself with like-minded individuals. These are people who share similar values, goals, and aspirations. When you’re surrounded by people with similar interests, you have a community that can offer support and motivation.
Take advantage of all resources
Wisdom and experience come from all kinds of sources. I believe God even puts strangers in our path that can often give us wisdom. To stay positive, connect with supportive friends, family, motivational books and podcasts. TED Talks are very good. Books are great, too.
Being part of a supportive community can also provide opportunities for collaboration and networking. By connecting with others who have similar interests, you can learn from their experiences and share your own knowledge. This exchange of ideas and insights can broaden your perspective and open doors to new opportunities.
Take care of yourself
Nurture your physical and mental well-being. Prioritize self-care rituals, such as exercise, meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature. By taking care of your own well-being, you will be better equipped to face challenges head-on because you feel less a victim. It’s hard to feel like a conqueror when your physical and mental health are compromised.
Success does not happen overnight. It is the result of consistent effort, dedication, and perseverance. Set realistic goals for yourself and break them down into smaller, achievable steps. Celebrate your progress along the way and stay committed to your vision.
This past week I’ve practiced celebrating myself. I have to get so much editing done daily before I can “play”. Play for me can be Diying, crafting, organizing, painting, watching TV, visiting friends….These little celebrations keep me focused and committed.
Power and passion are good anecdotes to victimhood
Never underestimate the power of passion and purpose. Find what truly ignites your soul and pursue it with unwavering determination. When you align your actions with your deepest values and desires, you will find fulfillment and meaning in your journey.
So, believe in yourself, embrace challenges, surround yourself with positivity, practice self-care, set realistic goals, and follow your passion. With these principles guiding your path, you are bound to achieve great things. Keep pushing forward and never lose sight of your incredible potential!
Embrace change and adaptability
Change is inevitable. A lot of people don’t like change. I’m one of them. But embracing life’s change can lead to fulfillment if we keep an open mind.
In today’s fast-paced world, it is essential to cultivate an attitude of flexibility and resilience. Recognize that change is inevitable and that resisting it can cause unnecessary stress and hinder personal growth. Instead, embrace the beauty of new experiences and the opportunities they bring.
Change isn’t always easy, and, at times, it can be uncomfortable. However, it is in these moments of discomfort that true growth occurs. So, don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and explore uncharted territory. You might just discover hidden strengths and talents that you never knew you had.
Embrace the unknown, embrace the challenges, and embrace the opportunities that come your way.
Be resilient
Embracing a resilient mindset, you can rise above any obstacles that come your way. View challenges as stepping stones towards success, and let them strengthen your character and determination. Cultivating a positive attitude, you’ll find that even the most daunting situations can be turned into valuable learning experiences.
This process of self-transformation begins with acknowledging your own worth and capabilities. Recognize that you are capable of achieving great things and deserving of all the happiness and fulfillment life has to offer. I don’t find anything in the Bible to suggest otherwise.
God has more for all of us. I wrote a book about it; that’s how convinced I am. And we can all find it. In fact, God expects us to. (If you follow this blog, all the books are free.)
As you navigate through different phases of life, remember that it is okay to seek support and guidance from others. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire and uplift you, and who believe in your potential. Together, you can overcome challenges and celebrate each victory along the way.

Dream big, work hard, and seize every opportunity that comes your way.
So, always believe in yourself, and never be afraid to take a leap of faith. Trust in your abilities, and trust the journey that lies ahead. God will be there with you, but remember, the power to shape your life ultimately rests in your hands. Believing this is what keeps you from being a victim.
Reach out to others
Almost always, when we reach out to someone else, we loosen the shackles of victimhood. There is always someone we can help. Helping others takes our minds off ourselves and that’s a good thing. If you don’t know someone you can help, pray for victims around the world. There are those in prison and those being held against their will in various circumstances. There are those who are victims of cruel regimes. Pray for their release.
Finally
I’m acutely aware that there are people all over the world who have been victimized in one way or another. Don’t think I don’t know that. A post like this can sound very Pollyanish. But here’s the truth:
The most victimized people in the world, the ones whose stories we read about, all say the same thing; they never considered themselves a victim. They always felt hope when all was hopeless. The stories we don’t hear? The ones who felt they were a victim and stayed a victim.
So I honor them by saying the same thing.
God bless each of you.
