There is great hope for christians facing tough times
Hope seemed lost on the day between the crucifixion and resurrection. But it wasn’t, of course. The disciples just didn’t know it. They wanted to believe, like we want to believe. But the hope is there even in the in-between days. But sometimes it’s hard. Thinking about this day in our Lord’s story prompted me to write this. I hope it helps.

THE IN-BETWEEN DAY
Dismayed
Fearful
Worried
Alone

They sit in a room,
Not looking at each other.
Knowing they each
Betrayed him in their own way.

They keep the curtains shut.
The atmosphere is ominous.
This in-between day foggy,
Yesterday fresh in their minds.

How could it be?
Why that humiliating death?
Why not a kingdom?
Or at least a gold crown?

The people had cheered.
Throngs had followed.
But no one really heard.
Where were they all now?

Now he is gone.
They felt unmoored.
Where do they go?
What do they do?

The day wearies on.
The night approaches,
They try to sleep,
But rest eludes them.

Then comes the morning.
The sun’s brightness
Taunting their breaking hearts.
Their pain intensifying.
There is a knock at the door.
There is always the knock at our door, too. Someone offers hope, help, or comfort. Someone says something kind. Our world brightens, and we see our own resurrection around the corner.
God bless and Happy Easter. He is risen indeed.
