“Nothing is as important as staying right spiritually.” ……………….

…………..”Never allow anything that divides or destroys the oneness of your life with Christ to remain in your life without facing it.(emphasis mine)  Beware of allowing the influence of your friends or your circumstances to divide your life. This only serves to sap your strength and slow your spiritual growth. Beware of anything that can split your oneness with Him, causing you to see yourself as separate from Him.”………………………….

From Oswald Chamber’s, “My Utmost For His Highest.” , August 19th.

Sometimes, though, we can  find ourselves depending on our feelings to determine our spiritual condition . Feelings aren’t to be ignored because they tell us something is amiss. But they’re also not reliable as far as their accuracy is concerned. When I’m in such a quandary myself,  I look at my overall experience with God. If I’m committing no known sin, if my spiritual disciplines are where they should be,  if I’m growing and learning, if I’m acting when God directs, if my love for people is borne out through my actions, then even if I’m making mistakes and floundering at times, I assume I’m on the right track. I always figure God will “check” me if I need a heads-up.
