LIFE

A crash on the sidewalk and toothpaste in my eyes

flowers

The day started out with a smile and a song,

But before the day was over, a few things had gone wrong.

Hubby and I went for a walk,

But then someone called and wanted to talk.

I answered my phone which was a mistake,

An  error in judgement I won’t again make.

The sidewalk and I met in a flash

Scraped and bruised I hurried home in a dash.

The day rushed on and I had much yet to do

So I needed to run an errand or two.

But I looked such a  mess,

I needed to refresh

I brushed my teeth, combed my hair

Looked in the mirror and my, what a scare.

My mascara had flaked in the rush of the day

So I used my hand to brush the flakes away.

“Ouch, ouch, ouch” I yelled as I jumped up and down

My eyes hurt so bad and I looked like a clown.

Toothpaste was smeared all over my fingers

And into my eyes the paste chose to linger.

(Say does anyone know? Does whitening toothpaste make your eyes white as snow?)

It hurt so much I wanted to cry

But I’m pretty tough and instead gave a sigh.

I rinsed and rinsed until my eyes were clear

But I looked such a wreck, dare I go anywhere?

I put on my sunglasses and went to the store

And, of course, they had nothing I went there for.

I came home, poured some tea and sat down for a rest,

Tomorrow’s a new day, today was not the best.
