Why I am a paper “freak”.

I thought I would share something a little personal today and give you a better idea of who I am.

I am a verified paper freak. I love paper. Wallpaper, scrapbook paper, fancy papers, gift wrap. Of course, I am also somewhat of an artist so I do need paper.

I buy paper everywhere, at garage sales, thrift shops, etc. I’m the only person I know that looks for paper first at garage sales and thrift shops and on clearance at retail stores.

I think I have enough now to last the rest of my life.

I’m serious. A few weeks ago I was in Hobby Lobby and walked through the artist supplies area and found they were clearing out their own brand of artists pads/papers. I have no idea why. Everything was marked at 75% off. And here’s the other thing.

The page count in each pack was almost doubled the page count that was indicated on the front covers.

WIN. WIN.

I like to sketch and doodle. Needless to say, I go through a lot of paper that way. I find doodling very therapeutic and usually just throw most of it away. I couldn’t do that if I bought retail.

By the way, doodling is therapeutic in general. And as you can see from what I post here, it can be whatever you want it be. No judgment, no deadlines.

So today I thought I’d share some of my “doodling” so you know I wasn’t kidding.

This kind of abstract doodling above is really relaxing. It’s more like a zentangle. Plus, I find I often doodle circular type shapes which I’m sure is quite “zen”.

I’ll probably use this rose banner in my journal.

Some more swags and banners for my BUJO. (Bullet journal)

I find that when I’m doodling, I relax. Everything slows down. It’s a great activity to do in the evening to wind down. As you can tell, there is certainly no perfection here. No even trying for that.

I often “doodle” in ink so I can’t erase.

It also reminds me that some things in our lives can’t be erased. They just have to be dealt with.

I hope you will try “doodling”. So many times, it’s the little things like this that really help with depression.

Here’s a link to my Pinterest board if you want some simple ideas.

God bless and have a “doodle” of a day.
