Why I love this time of year

Can you believe it’s August already? But I love August.

“Why?” you ask.

Because it’s back to school shopping. No, I don’t have little ones going back to school. But I almost always go with a grandchild or their parent to pick out folders, backpacks, etc. Their parents love me for that!

In fact, my daughter-in-law loved me for it. She hated doing it and I loved it. So it was a win-win.

But it isn’t just for the kids. This is the best time of year to stock up on glue sticks, paper, and mechanical pencils.

But buyer beware.

Here’s a tip. Many stores package items together, like maybe two glue sticks in one package.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!!

They aren’t necessarily cheaper. I found that out a few years back. I decided to do a little comparison shopping and two of the stores I shop at were indeed more expensive for the two-pack items. So be sure to check it out.

I go through a lot of glue sticks in a year’s time and a lot of mechanical pencils. I like to sketch so I usually buy a number of packages.

Another tip. I”ve found the PaperMate mechanical pencils to be the best. The other brands break too easily.

I’ll bet you wished I lived near you, huh? I could take your kids.

Unless, of course, you like itas much as I do. And by the way, I loved going with my own children as well.

So enjoy your back-to-school shopping. I will.

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
