A new approach. I hope you like it.

Sometimes, new is good. I hope you’ll overlook the fact that I am reposting. I wanted to see what this looked like. Maybe I’ll post something like this every end-of-month, so in case you didn’t read a post, they are all in one place.

So, what do you think?

Besides, trying something new is good, right? And considering it’s the end of the month, it works out well.

Plus, I like being able to see my posts this way as well. It’s been two months of reflection and sorting things out. Mental health, identifying the truly important, and relationships. Some pretty heady subjects. But what else is there to do in these two dark, cold months?

Now, I contend with this Afib diagnosis. I’m having a hard time adjusting to the medications. But I try to see things in perspective. It’s not terminal. It’s treatable. Perspective certainly helps. Besides, I’m an overcomer in Christ.

I hope you have a great weekend and blessings to each of you.

How Summer Depression Can Be Compared to the Cardinal

(I apologize. This post accidentally went out today before I edited it. This post was written years ago. I have not struggled with depression for over twenty years. Bad days, sure. A bad week, yes. But clinical depression? No. I‘m posting the corrected version. ) Sometimes depression reminds me of a cardinal in summer. Who notices Read more

Depression can be a gift. Here’s five reasons why.

Depression can be a gift Sounds like some Pollyanna gibberish at best, doesn’t it? It isn’t. God promises He can take anything meant to harm us and turn it into something good. (Genesis 50:20) Many of life’s experiences are not welcomed at the time. However, we look back and see how it was for our Read more

  • What silly things make you smile every time? Do you know?

Smiling matters. Smiling makes us feel better, whether it’s forced or not. In fact, forcing ourselves to smile is a well-known technique to manage depression. We all know the big things that make us smile, like baptisms, weddings, and birthdays. You know, the really big things. But do you know the little things that make you smile? Read more

Found a great thrift store vase, and some really cute tops

Yesterday I went thrift store shopping. I needed some time for myself. I hit Hobby Lobby for the first time in a long time. Also, checked out Goodwill, which I also haven’t done for a while. (Been too busy dropping off things. We’ve been cleaning out the garage. Yikes!) When I haven’t been working in Read more

depression has a really BIG appetite. Don’t feed it.

Depression finds its victims just like an animal finds its prey. Predatory animals always search out the most vulnerable of other species. Even the king of the jungle, the mighty lion, isn’t stupid enough to attack an animal as strong as he is. Well, Satan is no different. Our unique vulnerabilities make us susceptible to Satan’s Read more

  • Why worry about it if you really can’t control it anyway?

Table of Contents Worrying never accomplishes anything. Right now I’m sitting on the porch of “La Cabinette”. My she-shed sits about 40 ft from the main cabin. Both the cabin and the she-shed are tiny. The cabin, which we call “Teeny, Tiny Red Cabin” is now about seven hundred square feet because we just added Read more
