OK. I hate to admit my stupidity again but here goes. I suppose all of you know all about the “featured image thingee” on the Dashboard. Well, I’ve been blogging for about a year and half and have never had to use it before. I’ve used the media library for all my post pictures but apparently I’m also supposed to use the “featured image thingee” as well. I hope that doesn’t mean my former posts have once again gone out to infinity and beyond and never landed where they should. That would explain the entire first year of blogging.
So now I’ve got my work cut out for me because I have to go back and select the “featured image thingee” for all my earlier posts where I didn’t do that. I don’t think it was a big deal until I started using this newest theme. You can probably tell I’ve been experimenting for a few months now. Have kind of settled on this theme (for now 🙂 but talk about a learning curve! It’s far more complicated than any other theme I’ve used. Lots of bells and whistles and because it’s pretty new (3/14), I had a hard time finding someone at WordPress to explain it to me. (Hats off to Jon, wherever he is.) BTW, overall the WordPress staff has been great. The times I didn’t get a good answer was probably because I didn’t know the right questions to ask. So glad I bought the upgrade.
I share this because if you are new to blogging I want you to be encouraged. Don’t give up. If you only knew how frustrated I was that first year. That’s why I’m having to re-post a number of them, edited so they’re fresh, of course. (I didn’t include tags. :(How embarrassing to admit.) Now I can talk URL’s, a little html and “featured image thingees”. I’m on a roll, huh?
