How to decorate mason jars

Re-posting some pictures of the mason jars I gave as gifts last year.

I’ll post a few each day.

I painted them all kinds of decorative ways.

The blue one on the left is black paint inside, and blue chalk paint (whatever I had on had) outside. I sanded it and added the burlap bows.

The jar on the right is going to be hard to explain. I’m a mixed media artist and never plan anything. I just follow my creative instincts.

In this case I knew I wanted a real “grunge” look. This is three layers of paint, light for the first coat, blue for the second, and Martha Stewart Brown???? for the top coat. Then I just started sanding through the layers.

Made a ribbon bow, added a tassle, and some wonderful Washi tape.
