germy donuts

Today is again, so–o-o-o-easy. I’ll bet everyone who reads todays melt-down moment, will agree with me.
You know those self-serve doughnut cases in grocery stores and gas stations? Do people even pay attention to the signs that read, “use paper” to pick up your donuts? I used to love buying doughnuts this way. There’s far more selection and they’re bigger. Now, I’m not so sure.
My hubby went to the grocery store yesterday to pick up some doughnuts for the week-end. He came home with a boxed set which are far less exotic than the delicious assortment behind the cases.
I asked him why he failed at his mission. He said after he saw people, not only NOT using the paper to pick up the doughnuts but actually touching doughnuts other than the ones they finally decided on (seriously? ), he was so appalled, he couldn’t buy from the case.
I agreed wholeheartedly. What’s is wrong with people? I have a hunch these are the same people who throw stuff out of their car on the road. They’re the same people who don’t wash their hands after using the bathrooms. Oh, gosh, that makes the above a “worse than awful scenario” now, doesn’t it? I just don’t understand people who are so ill-mannered and unconcerned about others, people whose physical bodies might well be compromised and highly more susceptible to germs.
It’s the same reason, I haven’t been to a buffet bar in years. We were at Wendy’s years ago and I witnessed a little boy sampling the various items with his finger and after licking said finger, putting it back in another container and so on. I just about threw-up.
Yes, I know we don’t know what’s goes in a restaurant’s kitchen. It could be even worse. I don’t like to think about it. I’d never eat out if I did.
I guess I should just eat at home.
