My first Christmas novel going live this week

Table of Contents

Yes, my first Christmas novel will be on Amazon later this week. Yea!!!!

But first: a perspective on pain

Sunday night I became seriously ill, diarrhea, vomiting, pain, Whoa!

I’m not telling you that for sympathy but if you want to send some my way, please do. No, I’m sharing this with you because I’d like to let you know how I try (you notice I said try), to manage these times and not feel sorry for myself.

Please don’t think this is easy. As I was bowled over in pain, I remember thinking, Really, God?

Remember others

A woman at our church was just diagnosed with cancer. She is a liver transplant patient. She’s tall and extremely thin. I can only imagine what the chemo is going to do to her.

So I chose to pray for her. I try (remember, I said try). But, of course, I prayed for myself as well.

I’ve struggled with IBS all my life and you would think pain would be nothing new to me. But it is. Every time is like the first time. I would love to never have an attack again. But this may well be my “thorn in my flesh”. It keeps me humble, though.

My first Christmas novel

Holiday wreath/first Christmas novel

This is a short post today because I have to get back to the Christmas book. It is a very different kind of Christmas story, not a Hallmark one for sure. There is even an assault scene.

Why? That’s the question many of you are asking. Well, if you ever write a Christan novel, you will learn to listen to your characters. I tried writing the story without it and it fell flat. I can reassure you it is not graphic at all. In fact, there are only two sentences explaining the actual assault.

When I started to my first Christmas book, I knew I wanted it to be real. Yes, it is a Christian novel but Christians, since the beginning of time, have struggled with the same things anyone else has. The Bible never says otherwise. In fact, it says just the opposite.

Jack, Allie, Gus, Ruth, Evelyn overcome many issues. They represent real life.

But

It has a good (you notice I said good, not happy because that might depend on the reader’s view) ending, and opens doors to other books.

As I said, it’s not a traditional Christmas story, definitely not a Hallmark movie. There is a section for Book clubs and a mini-journal. Again, not traditional. I guess the non-fiction writer in me just can’t be squelched.

I pray you have a good day today. I sure hope I do.

PS. Hopefully, I can give you a sneak peek this week.
