How God helps us find lost things

God helps me find things.

I believe that is scriptural. God talks about “searching” and “finding” a lot.

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Luke 11:9

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:8

“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Luke 11:10

“For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.

“If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.

Luke 15:6

“And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

Matthew 7:14

“For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Matthew 16:25

“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 10:39

“He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 13:44

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Luke 15:8

“Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?

Luke 15:9

“When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost!’

Some months ago, someone I know lost one of their hearing aids. This person has a severe hearing loss. I won’t even try to talk with them unless they have them in.

It took me a while to convince them they needed to wear them. They kept reassuring me they could hear without them and that they didn’t miss any part of conversations.

We argued about that one until I asked the sixty thousand dollar question?

“How do you know what you’re not hearing?”

(You all do get that, don’t you?)

I finally won that argument.

So I started looking under things, on top of things, in between things………………

I was praying at the same time:

“Lord, I’m feeling a little stressed. I feel like I’m yelling and that makes me feel short-tempered. I don’t want to feel that way. So Lord, please, please, please help me find it.

I found it a few minutes later.

We were both thrilled, me even more so.

wink, wink

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked God to help me find something.

Sometimes I think maybe God answers ours prayers simply because we are brash enough to ask.

You might think this is a “little off the wall, that I’m one of those religious extremists. By anyone’s definition, I’m a very down-to-earth, logical common-sense person but I’m also a person of faith.

So if you’ve lost something, why not give it a try?

It doesn’t have to be a “thing”.

It can be a person, a feeling, a passion, a love. It can be anything.

God in all things

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
