Yesterday, I posted the first six steps to finding God’s will. (Aren’t you wondering why it was six and not five, which makes more sense? It’s because, apparently, I can’t count. So today I’m posting the final four.) This post continues with the next four steps. However, I did include extra material about the Holy Spirit today.
The Holy Spirit, and God’s will

The Holy Spirit, also known as the Holy Ghost, is an integral part of the Christian’s walk with God. It is regarded as the third equal person within the Holy Trinity, along with God the Father and God the Son (Jesus Christ).
The Holy Spirit is often described as God’s divine presence and power that dwells within believers, guiding and transforming their lives. It is believed to be the source of spiritual gifts, wisdom, and strength, enabling individuals to live according to God’s will. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, Christians believe they can experience a deep connection with God and receive divine guidance for their lives.
6. Observe Open and Closed Doors

God often guides us through open and closed doors. As you walk in obedience and seek His will, He will open doors of opportunity and close doors that are not meant for you. Pay attention to these signs and trust His leading.
When we pay close attention to the open and closed doors in our lives, we demonstrate our obedience to God. Also, we position ourselves to receive His blessings. During these times of divine guidance, we must trust in God’s wisdom and direction. Although closed doors may seem disappointing, they often lead us to new paths and opportunities specifically designed for us.
When we surrender our own plans and desires and instead embrace God’s will, we allow God to work miracles in our lives. As we observe and trust Him, we recognize open and closed doors as one of God’s ways of leading us toward His perfect plan.
God’s timing is His timing.
However, it is essential to remember that His timing may not always align with our own. We must remain patient and steadfast as we move forward in faith and obedience. Sometimes, closed doors are not permanent but rather a temporary detour or a lesson in perseverance. By trusting in His leading and having faith in His wisdom, we can confidently navigate through life’s uncertainties. We can know that God’s perfect plan for us will unfold in His perfect time. We need to keep our eyes open for the doors He opens and trust Him with the doors He closes.
But remember, a closed door can be temporarily closed, and an open one doesn’t necessarily mean we should walk through it. Open and closed doors must always align with God’s revealed will as written in the Bible.
Bible verses about open and shut doors and God’s will
Revelation 3:8 (NIV): “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” This verse reminds us that when God opens a door for us, no one can close it. It encourages us to stay faithful to God’s word, even when we face challenges, as He has the power to open doors for us that lead to blessings and opportunities.
Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV): “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” These verses teach us about the power of persistence and faith in prayer. When we seek God’s guidance and ask Him for His help, He promises to answer and open doors for us. It encourages us to trust in His timing and keep seeking His will.
Acts 16:6-10 (NIV): “Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas.
This passage highlights the importance of being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes, doors may seem closed to us, but it could be that it’s God’s way of redirecting us elsewhere. There may be a greater ministry first.
7. Seek Wise Counsel to find God’s will
Seek guidance from wise and godly people who can provide biblical insight and wisdom. Surround yourself with a community of believers who can offer support, encouragement, and accountability. God’s will is often revealed to us through our interactions with other Christians.
Surrounding yourself with a community of believers who can offer support, encouragement, and accountability is crucial in your journey of seeking wise counsel. Look for individuals who possess biblical insight and wisdom; their guidance will be invaluable.
These godly people can give you a fresh perspective and help you navigate various challenges. Moreover, when you gather together with like-minded individuals, you create a safe space where you can openly share your struggles. You receive the encouragement you need to stay on the right path. So, be intentional in cultivating these relationships and be open to the wisdom and counsel they have to offer.
What constitutes a godly person?
A godly person can be defined by their unwavering devotion to their faith. Their commitment to living a life in alignment with the principles and teachings of their religion is paramount. They possess virtues such as compassion, humility, and integrity, which guide their actions and interactions with others.
A godly person demonstrates a genuine love and concern for their fellow human beings, practicing kindness, forgiveness, and generosity in their everyday lives. Ultimately, a godly person is a beacon of light, inspiring others to seek a higher purpose and leading by example.
Bible verses about Godly people
Here are three Bible verses that highlight the characteristics of godly people. The first verse, Proverbs 11:20, states, “The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.” This verse emphasizes the importance of integrity and righteousness in the eyes of God. The second verse,
Psalm 37:30 declares, “The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just.” This verse emphasizes the power of godly individuals to speak truth and wisdom.
Lastly, Proverbs 12:26 states, “The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” This verse encourages godly individuals to be selective in their companionship. The people they surround themselves with can significantly impact their spiritual journey. These verses collectively depict the qualities that define a godly person and serve as a guide for those seeking to follow a righteous path.
8. Step Out in Faith to find God’s will
When God’s guidance is clear, step out in faith and obedience. Trust that He will provide the resources, strength, and wisdom you need to move forward. Remember that faith without action is incomplete.
In taking that first step of faith and obedience, you open yourself up to a world of possibilities and blessings. As you venture into the unknown, trust that God is there, walking beside you every step of the way and revealing His will. His provision may not always come in the way you expect but have confidence that He is faithful to His promises.
Remember that faith is not passive; it requires action and perseverance.
Trust in His divine plan and surrender yourself completely. Embrace the challenges that may come your way as opportunities for growth and spiritual development. Remember, even in the midst of uncertainty; His guidance will light your path and lead you toward a life filled with blessings and fulfillment. Stay firm in your beliefs. Through it all, remember that He is always there, ready to guide you through every step of your journey.
So, continue to seek His guidance and remain steadfast in your commitment. Watch as He transforms your faith into something truly extraordinary.
Bible verses about stepping out in faith.
Stepping out in faith is a fundamental aspect of our spiritual journey. The Bible provides us with wisdom and guidance through its verses, which provide inspiration and encouragement.
In Matthew 14:29, we read about Peter stepping out of the boat and walking on water towards Jesus, illustrating the importance of having a courageous and unwavering faith.
Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen, emphasizing the need to trust God’s promises even when circumstances seem uncertain. When we do, God’s will is revealed.
Finally, Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches us to lean not on our own understanding but to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, emphasizing the importance of surrendering our doubts and fears to God as we step out in faith. These verses remind us that when we choose to trust in God and step out in faith, He will guide our paths and bring about great blessings in our lives.
9. Embrace Detours and Delays
Recognize that God may lead you through unexpected detours and delays. Trust that He works all things together for your good and His glory. Be patient and open to the lessons and growth that these seasons bring.
Hidden opportunities
In these detours and delays lies a hidden opportunity for personal growth and spiritual development. Embracing these unexpected twists and turns requires a deep trust in God’s divine plan for your life. During these seasons of waiting and redirection, you have the chance to refine your character, strengthen your faith, and learn valuable lessons along the way.
So, instead of getting frustrated or discouraged, choose to see these detours as an invitation to grow and become the person God has designed you to be. Embrace the uncertainty with an open heart, knowing that each delay is an opportunity for God’s glory to shine through your life. What may seem like a setback could actually be a setup for something marvelous.
Bible verses about delays and detours and God’s will

Delays and detours are a common part of life’s journey, and the Bible provides wisdom and guidance on navigating these challenging circumstances. One verse that comes to mind is Proverbs 16:9, which reminds us that “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” This verse reminds us that God is ultimately in control even when our plans are disrupted. He can use detours to guide us toward His perfect will.
Another verse that speaks to the theme of delays is Isaiah 40:31, which encourages us to “wait upon the Lord” and assures us that those who do will “renew their strength.” In times of delay, it is essential to trust in God’s timing and lean on His strength.
Lastly, James 1:3-4 teaches us about the purpose of delays. It states that “the testing of your faith produces steadfastness,” and when “steadfastness has its full effect,” we will be “perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” This verse reminds us that delays can refine and strengthen our faith, ultimately leading us to spiritual growth and maturity. Embrace delays and detours with a spirit of trust, patience, and perseverance. God works in our lives, even amidst unexpected twists and turns.
10. Stay connected
Lastly, remain connected to God through prayer, worship, and fellowship. Continually seek His guidance and align your heart with His will. As you stay connected to Him, you will experience His guidance in every aspect of your life.
As you continue to cultivate your connection with God through prayer, worship, and fellowship, you will find that your relationship with Him deepens and strengthens. Take time daily to engage in heartfelt conversations with Him, pouring out your joys, concerns, and desires. In moments of worship, allow yourself to be fully immersed in His presence, surrendering everything to Him.
Seek opportunities for fellowship.
Additionally, seek out opportunities for fellowship with fellow believers, as they can provide support, encouragement, and spiritual accountability. As you remain connected to God in these ways, you will find that His guidance becomes even more evident in every decision and circumstance you encounter. Trust in His unfailing love and faithfulness, knowing He is with you every step of the way.
Remember, recognizing God’s guidance is a journey that requires faith, trust, and obedience. It may not always be easy, but the rewards of walking in step with God are immeasurable. Embrace His guidance, and allow Him to lead you on a path of purpose, fulfillment, and joy.
Bible verses about staying connected to God.
In times of uncertainty and challenges, staying connected to God becomes even more crucial. The Bible offers guidance and encouragement through various verses. One such verse is found in John 15:5, where Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” This verse reminds us that our strength and purpose come from staying connected to God.
Another verse, Psalm 46:10, invites us to “Be still, and know that I am God.” It’s a powerful reminder to find moments of quietness and reflection to deepen our connection with the divine.
In James 4:8, we are encouraged to “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” This verse promises that when we take steps towards God, He responds with open arms. These verses serve as a compass, guiding us in our pursuit of a deep, abiding connection with our Creator.
Conclusion
Yesterday and today, I wrote about finding God’s will in our lives. While there are ten steps, we don’t use all these steps at once. And we might find that if we seek God’s will for something specific, some steps might be more appropriate than others. Remember, God wants to reveal His will for you because you are an important part in His kingdom agenda. Keep seeking His will and trust that he will reveal it to you.
God bless and have a great evening.
