(2.) FEAR: God Never Shames You Because Of Yours
Fear: God Doesn’t Shame You For It
Fear is normal, even in Christians.
Isaiah 41:10 — “Do not fear, for I am with you…”
Opening Reflection

Fear often carries a second burden: shame. We feel guilty for being afraid, as if it means we’re weak or spiritually immature. This internal struggle can create a sense of isolation, making us believe that we must face them alone, further compounding our anxiety. But Scripture doesn’t shame us—it comforts us. God’s words aren’t harsh commands to “get it together.” Instead, they are gentle reminders of His unconditional love and understanding: I am with you.
Fear and Vulnerability
In moments of vulnerability, He doesn’t dismiss our fear; He draws near to it with compassion. Like a parent kneeling beside a trembling child, God meets us in the moment. He offers a reassuring presence over the pressure to perform or to appear fearless. When the feeling rises, He doesn’t rebuke us. Instead, He reassures us with promises of strength and support. It’s in that reassurance that shame begins to lose its grip. It enables us to experience true freedom. It is in this sacred space that we can acknowledge our fears honestly. We can allow them to transform into opportunities for growth and a deeper connection with our Creator.
Real-Life Example:
You’re waiting on medical test results, a time filled with uncertainty and concern. You’ve prayed for peace, yearning for the calm that seems so elusive; yet, anxiety still creeps in, wrapping around your thoughts like a thick fog. You feel guilty for not “trusting enough,” as if your fearful feelings somehow reflect a lack of faith. But instead of hiding it deep inside, where it can fester, you decide to bring it all to God. In that vulnerable moment, you openly say, “I’m scared.”
To your relief, He responds gently, “I’m here.” There’s no rebuke, no condemnation, just a profound sense of reassurance. You realize in that exchange that it’s okay to feel afraid, that your emotions are valid and understandable. You feel seen, not shamed—and that changes everything.
