A fifty-cent wreath. How cool is that?

This is a quick fifty-cent wreath I made a few years ago. Thought we all needed to think about something other than this pandemic.

We were at “Teeny Tiny Red Cabin” last weekend. Remember, I told you we pulled up carpet the weekend prior? Well, we painted this time.

And, guess what?

My favorite white, Cottage White by Behr, does not look good. Thank goodness my husband feels the same way. It was a horrible job. It was over paneling and if you’ve never painted over paneling, you have no idea. You have to paint all the groves with a brush because a roller won’t get in the seams. And, of course, it takes two coats.

The cabin kitchen/area is very small, 12x 14 and it took us over ten hours! Let me repeat, ten hours!!!! You can paint a huge room in that same amount of time.

So now we’re going to have to paint it again. However, it will only take a few hours as it will be white over white and all the hard work is done. Can’t want to show you the final pictures but it might not be until the fall as we won’t paint if it’s hot. We want to enjoy the summer as we’ve had no spring.

I was able to visit one of my favorite thrift stores where I spent a whoppin’ fifty cents.

This is the fifty-cent wreath and the”ball” garland I purchased for twenty-five cents each.

How I Made It.

Here is another look at the spacing.

Obviously, I just wrapped the yarn around and around. There must have been fifty yards. After about the first ten rounds I started crisscrossing to fill in the bare spots. Because the balls were about three inches apart I had to be creative.

When I had about two yards left, I cut it off and cut the balls off the string. I glued the back of each ball with a glue stick and strategically placed them as needed. Then I added some dimension by placing some balls on top of other ones.

I would’ve used a glue gun but I couldn’t find it.

The white specks you see are not white at all, they are pieces of glitter that were scattered throughout the garland.

This certainly doesn’t rank up there as a beautiful wreath in the hierarchy of wreaths, but remember, it was only fifty-cents.

The End Result

Here is another wreath.

We are at Teeny Tiny Red Cabin again this week where I am spending an inordinate amount of time reading all the print-outs I’ve brought up with me. They’re all about SEO, Tailwind, Yoast, all the technical stuff I need to if I’m going to publish my book.

Anyway, I hope you are having a good week and stay safe. K?

God bless and have a safe day.
