Dreams on hold: the parable of the three trees

When our dreams are put on hold, it frustrates us. I happened to find this video the other day and wanted to share it with you.
As the Easter season approaches, our dreams become relevant. The disciples experienced broken dreams for sure. They, like us, were expecting a different outcome than Jesus hanging on a cross.
Broken dreams and dreams on hold
Broken dreams, dreams put on hold, dreams never realized can cause us much pain. The pandemic dashed many peoples’ dreams or at the least put them on hold. Some will be able to pick up and start over. Some won’t.
This video brings some perspective to all of you who are grappling with dashed dreams. I feel for you. But, remember, a broken dream doesn’t mean it stays broken. And sometimes I think our present dreams have to break because God has a much bigger dream for us in the future. As long as we hang on to that broken dream, we might never see the one God has prepared for us.
I love Habbukuk 1:5:
Look at the nations and watch–and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.
I know this is referring to nations but I also know I can take every word of God to heart as a generalization. What if God is preparing you for something you wouldn’t even believe?
Be sensitive with sharing your broken dreams
Sometimes we listen to others share their broken dreams and we are critical because some broken dreams seem frivolous to us when we feel we aren’t even in a position to dream at all. But that’s not true. Everyone can dream of a better future. God hears all our dreams.

However, a person whose 4,000 sq. foot house was scaled down to 3,000, might want to consider who they share that waylaid dream with. While we can share it with God, it might be insensitive to share it with someone who is struggling to make ends meet.
And maybe the dreams we had can be bigger and better. Maybe our dreams now can have eternal significance. I hope this little video brings a different perspective.
God bless and have a great day.
