Are you ever proud of yourself? I mean, really proud?

I have to be honest. I’m pretty proud of myself today. (Which when you read this, read “yesterday”.)

I’m still clearing out “stuff. But today I went to Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. Not a good place when you’re clearing out.

I specifically went to Hobby Lobby for scrapbook paper for a Christmas project I am working on. I am so excited about this project because it involves using beautiful paper. I love working with paper but I don’t “do” scrapbooks so I have to figure out other ways to use it. I am so sorry that I can’t share this project with you until after Christmas because these presents are for people who follow me.

But I will show you after Christmas and you can make them for next year. There you go.

So back to my shopping. I only bought the paper. I whizzed right by the gorgeous Christmas displays. I walked past the cool ceramics. I sauntered right past the paintings. I bought my paper and left.

A high-five to me.

Then it was Home Goods. I was looking for a small accent rug for our bedroom and a neutral pillow. I found exactly what I was looking for. I looked at the Christmas displays and bit my lower lip and headed right for the checkout.

I was on a mission and I was sticking to it.

I forgot T.J. MAXX. I did buy a sweater and some clearance items. I checked out and the clerk told me the amount. I said, “That can’t be right,” Now, you’re thinking the total was more than it should be. Right?

Nope. It was considerably less than what I already calculated. “You didn’t include the sweaters,” I said.

“Oh, wow, thank you. You’re right. The scanner beeped but it didn’t ring up.”

It was never an option for me to let that go. I’ll bet it wouldn’t have been for you either. There are some things in this world that are simply the right thing to do. This was one of them. I feel no pride in that because it was the only choice.

I came home and finished two projects I am working on.

I was still on my mission.

Now, I’ll bet you’re thinking there’s an “oops” coming.

Nope.

Just a really good feeling.

I can’t explain it but I know because I know because I know, that God is opening doors as I shut a few. I’ve often read that we can’t or won’t pursue new things unless we clear a way for them.

I can really see how that is true now.

So if you’ve made some promises to yourself and you’ve accomplished them, feel good about yourself.

Be proud. I didn’t say prideful. There is a big difference

God bless and have a good day.

(PS. I’m heading to Kirkland’s tomorrow. I WILL probably buy something but it will be with the idea of replacing something, not adding to what I already have.)
