Summer dreams and plans and a new project.

As you know, our home is way over one hundred years old. We’ve done a lot of work. We have this “island” in front of the house because we have a circular drive. That’s a good thing because it means I’m never backing out of the driveway which is also good because where the driveway meets the road is at the bottom of a small hill.

That’s a good thing because cars coming from the West can’t see our driveway very well even though there is a sign that says “Blind Driveway.”

Anyway, we have hired a landscaper to work on this island. I was worried we would have to have this beautiful tree removed. But great news. It can be trimmed and the roots that are coming to the surface can be ground down.

Look at that mess under the tree! I’ll be turning the bench to face the house.

Was going to repaint this bench but think I will leave it like it is. What do you think?

These next three pictures are some of the antique elements I want to use in my new space.

Anyway, I’m really excited about what is going to happen next week. The pergola on our deck (hubby and I built about eight years ago) is finally going to get a steel roof. It isn’t peaked or anything so it won’t look like a gazebo or anything but I’m tired of replacing the canvas every year.

Plus, I’ll be able to use it even when it rains. Rain on a tin roof is a cool sound. At least I think so.

I have been recovering these cushions with my favorite upholstery, plastic tablecloths. (Upcoming post about that.) I almost ditched this antique glider (free from the side of the road) because the cushions were smelly.

I tore off at least five layers of fabric (I have a tendency to just keep covering) and the smell was gone. The checked tablecloth you see is at least twenty years old. I covered the cushions with tablecloth fabric over big trash bags when I first got this glider. It has protected them all these years. So when I kept recovering them with fabric, they were completely waterproof.

Smart, huh?

These pictures are what it looked like last year. Hubby mad my adorable pallet board coffee table two years ago. I love it.

It snowed here last night so I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to warm, sunny weather.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your day and God bless.
