What a fun weekend which makes up for how the week started.

Can’t remember if I mentioned on this blog that for about six months now I’ve had a severe flare-up of what I think is IBS. I’ve called it IBS since I was a child but I’m not so sure I was ever “officially” diagnosed as such.

Anyway, it is not fun. I can’t for the life of me figure out what foods trigger or don’t trigger it. This morning was a bad attack. I know it’s bad when I drink half of a bottle of Pepto Bismol and then have to take an anti-diarrheal medication on top of that. Thank goodness I have an appointment with a specialist in a couple of weeks.

But I’m glad I can look back on this past weekend and see how much fun I had. Makes me realize I am still having some really good days.

My daughter and her friend and I went to a wonderful kind of Magnolia-style event in Northen Michigan. Lots of great furniture redos and fun DIY projects. I would like to say I bought something really cool, but we only drove an SUV vehicle so there wasn’t much room.

You know, I’m bringing a truck next time, don’t you?

I did buy some great enamelware though, which you can see in yesterday’s post.

However, on the way home, I stopped at a Goodwill store and found this wonderful rusty tin vase for $3.99! I love rusty. Except for my joints, that is.

And here’s what I did with it. I just love it. It had a hole already drilled in it so it was easy peasy to hang on the wall.

It was just what I needed for that wall in the cabin bedroom. When I get a full-shot of the whole room, you’ll see how great it is.

Have you ever had a room that you just couldn’t get “right”. Well, this bedroom is that room. I’m getting really close though.

Isn’t it funny how often the “rightness” to a room turns out to be something you never expected? Like you add something without giving it much thought, and all of a sudden the room starts to look better.

Or you remove an item. I took out a rug we had in this bedroom that always looked dirty even though it wasn’t and right away I liked the room better. I painted a chair white and added a fake fur seat (actually just draped it over), and voila’ that looked better.

As I said, it’s a work in progress and I think the next visit to the cabin and a few extra changes, and I will have nailed it. Or should I say, I’m just going to consider it done. Period.

But that got me to thinking about our spiritual lives. We work really hard at at it (the Bible does say to work out your salvation) and often add to it without realizing that maybe first, we need to eliminate something. I’ve found this to often be true in my personal faith walk.

How about you? Have you found you need to get rid of some “clutter” in your walk with God before you add anything to it? Like instead of trying to clean up your speech, you need to eliminate so much time spent with friends whose language is less than attractive. It’s too easy to follow suit.

Or if you trying to quit drinking alcohol, you might first get rid of the bottles in your home. No one is that self-disciplined.

Or in my case, if I want to quit eating so many sweets, I should quit buying them in the first place.

Sometimes something as non-spiritual as decorating a bedroom can teach us all kinds of lessons.

Anyway, have a great day and God bless.
