A swollen red inflamed face and no lips. Beware.

Yep. That’s right.

As I type right now, the swelling is going down a little and my lips have reappeared. So what’s this all about?

About six months ago, I started a series of facial treatments called micro needling. It’s not a hospital procedure. It’s usually done at a spa.(By the way, if you research the topic, it is NOT something called Vampire micro needling. OMG, I will never do that.)

I chose to do it just because I wanted to do something just for me. How great is that? Sometimes a little self-indulgence is OK. Because I live in a small town, it was not nearly as expensive as it is in big cities.

It’ s a cosmetic type procedure and is meant just to brighten up my skin and reduce minor wrinkles. It is not a facelift. It is painless and meant to boost one’s own collagen in the skin to brighten up the skin, remove scars and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The tool is like ink pen with little needles inside. The skin is numbed for an hour ahead of time and it’s totally pain-free. I have a high pain tolerance so it might just be me. But most people describe is only as uncomfortable, no painful.

I’ve had no problem until the next day although my face burned a little more than usual but the redness was barely noticeable. I went for a walk and by the time I came home it was a little redder and itching a bit. But still within the range of normal.

When I woke up the next morning and looked in the mirror, I was aghast at what I saw. Face completely inflamed looking and swollen. As I said earlier, my lips had almost disappeared under the swelling. I called the office and they set up an appointment with the nurse but by that time I felt it was getting better.

I’m not there yet but I’m getting there. Can’t say I feel all that great either.

Such is the result of trying to look better, huh?

So if you’re considering such a procedure, just be aware. These things can happen.

You can end up looking like a caricature of yourself. And, no, I’m not posting any pictures!!!

Not leaving the house till this goes away.

God bless and have a good day.

PS. Are you wondering if it worked? Honestly, I can’t tell much of a difference but they say your skin improves over time. I sure hope it does, because I’m never doing this again.
