A new approach. I hope you like it.

Sometimes, new is good. I hope you’ll overlook the fact that I am reposting. I wanted to see what this looked like. Maybe I’ll post something like this every end-of-month, so in case you didn’t read a post, they are all in one place.

So, what do you think?

Besides, trying something new is good, right? And considering it’s the end of the month, it works out well.

Plus, I like being able to see my posts this way as well. It’s been two months of reflection and sorting things out. Mental health, identifying the truly important, and relationships. Some pretty heady subjects. But what else is there to do in these two dark, cold months?

Now, I contend with this Afib diagnosis. I’m having a hard time adjusting to the medications. But I try to see things in perspective. It’s not terminal. It’s treatable. Perspective certainly helps. Besides, I’m an overcomer in Christ.

I hope you have a great weekend and blessings to each of you.

  • When God puts you right where you should be

Sometimes, no, all the time, God amazes me with His timing. I had an occasion a couple of weeks ago to be in the presence of someone when she received some troubling news. I had planned on being over there earlier but circumstances were such that I was running late. So I was there when… Read more

You will absolutely love this blackberry coffee cake!

I have a friend up north near our cabin who is an amazing cook/baker. I mean, amazing. As in, “You wouldn’t believe it” kind of amazing. I asked her one day how she got to be such a wonderful cook. She told me her mother worked outside the home and expected her to fix dinner… Read more

Take a walk with me through my garden.

Boy, this summer weather has been crazy everywhere. Here in Michigan, we are having the hottest summer ever. Plus, the driest. My garden was looking great when the weather was cool but as soon as it got hot and then dry, I pretty much lost it. So take a walk through my garden with me.… Read more

  • How to we conquer fear? Of anything?

How to we conquer fear? Of anything?

A lot of people don’t like visiting hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, or other people’s pain. Why is that? I think the answer is fairly obvious, and important when discussing depression. We don’t want to be faced with what we worry will be our future. We feel vulnerable and at risk.  We’d rather avoid it. The same… Read more

  • When the fear of anxiety is worse than the anxiety

This is a true story. “Jennifer” was returning from her weekly therapy session for her youngest child, Matthew (not his real name).  Matthew was born with Down Syndrome. She educates all who need it, “It’s Down Syndrome, not Down’s Syndrome.  He is not a “Down’s kid” either.” She gets furious with anyone who uses the word … Read more

How to “lose” yourself and why it’s important.

“You can’t live tomorrow today. You can’t live yesterday today. You can only live today’s day.  This is just my way of saying we need to learn to live in the present moment. It’s really the only one we’ve got. We need to learn to lose ourselves in some way. It’s the best way to find… Read more
