Post 2: How To Get Wisdom; Seek It, Receive It, and Understand It.
Please Read Proverbs 1:2–4 (Wisdom)

We live in the age of information, but not wisdom. We can ask our phones anything and get an answer in seconds. With AI, the world of information is only seconds away. And yet, for all our access to information, genuine wisdom feels increasingly rare.
Honestly, there are times I think the world gets dumber the more information we have. Common sense is in short supply. That’s why I love the book of Proverbs.
Solomon makes an important distinction right from the start — he isn’t just after knowledge. He wants his readers to know wisdom, understand insight, and receive instruction. Three different words, three different postures.
Wisdom, it turns out, is not a download. It’s a pursuit.
Look at what wisdom produces in verses 2–4: wise dealing, righteousness, justice, equity, prudence, knowledge, discretion. That is a remarkable list for a Monday morning. These aren’t abstract theological concepts. These are the qualities that make a person someone others trust, someone whose words carry weight, someone who handles hard things with grace. Solomon is essentially saying, “This is what you’re after.” Not just more Bible trivia, but a transformed way of moving through the world.
The word translated receive in verse 3 carries the idea of taking hold of something being offered. Wisdom doesn’t force itself on anyone. God extends it, generously and patiently, but we have to reach for it. That reaching looks means opening Scripture, sitting quietly enough to hear, and being honest enough to apply what we find. It is a daily, deliberate act. And it is always worth it.
Reflect: Of the qualities listed, wise dealing, righteousness, justice, equity, prudence, and discretion, which one do you most want God to develop in you right now?
Pray: Father, forgive me for the times I’ve settled for information when You were offering transformation. Teach me to pursue wisdom the way Solomon describes — with open hands and a willing heart. Make me a woman who doesn’t just know Your Word, but lives it. Amen.
