Further along the “hard” road

As I was having my devotions this morning, it occurred to me that the reason we don’t always choose the harder road may well depend on what hard roads we are currently experiencing that we didn’t choose. Some of those could be bad health, unemployment, grief, etc.

Yesterday, it was fairly easy for me to choose the hard road. If it were today, I’m not so sure.

My ankle is very sore today and my constant limp is getting on my nerves.

We’re having a new furnace installed today and they showed up at 9:00 this morning unannounced. It wasn’t the installers fault, of course. They were as surprised as we were that we hadn’t been notified.

We are right in the middle of a small but very messy pantry remodeling project which wasn’t completed so of course we moved a lot to the basement to get it out of the way. So I wasn’t a happy camper when they showed up and I had to scramble to reorganize the mess.

So if you’re having a hard time choosing the hard road today, you’re in good company.

I’m not happy with my attitude. After all, at least we have heat. One of the furnace installers told us they’ve actually installed furnaces in homes where there was no central heat, in one case for over two years. The family was using space heaters, etc. And this is Michigan!

So now that I’ve slapped myself up along side the head, I’m OK.

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
