How to find peace in your life. Concentrate on the good

Peace is the opposite of fear.

Fear can really stop us and keep us frozen in place. We are too afraid to move forward and certainly don’t want to move backward. Fear and anxiety go hand in hand. You don’t have one without the other. We don’t like to admit that anxiety is really fear, but it is. Sometimes, we just need time to get our thoughts together, to get back on track, and let God direct us. Time to find peace.

Time can be our best friend if we use it wisely. I remember such an occasion myself. For me, even as little as twenty-four hours made a difference, a positive one at that. “Surfing the net” is not always a good idea, but this time it was. I learned a lot, and many of my fears, although not all of them, have been relieved.

Time gives us breathing space. And breathing is good, right?

Sometimes, when you try to figure things out, it seems like you go forward one step and back three or four. You learn some things and think, “Great, I’ve got it. Then you learn something else, and you think, “Oh, crap. I didn’t think of that.” (Forgive the “crap,” but it is the best word to describe how I feel sometimes.)

Life is like those rope contests when people at both ends are pulling on a rope, and whoever pulls the hardest and causes the other team to be dragged their way wins.

Or it’s like that wolf story (original art by my grandson.) You know which one I mean.

The fable of the two wolves

wolf/peaace

“ONE EVENING, AN ELDERLY CHEROKEE BRAVE TOLD HIS
GRANDSON ABOUT A BATTLE THAT GOES ON INSIDE PEOPLE.

HE SAID, “MY SON, THE BATTLE IS BETWEEN TWO ‘WOLVES’ INSIDE US ALL.
ONE IS EVIL. IT IS ANGER, ENVY, JEALOUSY, SORROW, REGRET, GREED, ARROGANCE, SELF-PITY, GUILT, RESENTMENT, INFERIORITY, LIES, FALSE PRIDE, SUPERIORITY, AND EGO.

THE OTHER IS GOOD. IT IS JOY, PEACE, LOVE, HOPE, SERENITY, HUMILITY, KINDNESS, BENEVOLENCE, EMPATHY, GENEROSITY, TRUTH, COMPASSION, AND FAITH.”

HIS GRANDSON THOUGHT ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN ASKED
HIS GRANDFATHER:

“WHICH WOLF WINS?”

THE OLD CHEROKEE SIMPLY REPLIED, “THE ONE YOU FEED”

I like reading legends and proverbs from other cultures. There is much truth in many of them. I don’t feel my faith is the least bit compromised.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. In other words, feed the good wolf.

Truth is truth where ever you find it because all truth has God at its source.

So, which wolf are you feeding today? Remember, the one you feed wins.

God bless, and I hope you have a good day.
