Alphabet of thanks, “J”

“J”

I think everyone will agree with me today. I’m thankful for “Joy”. Pure, unspoiled joy.

joy

joy

Who isn’t?

Joy, unlike happiness, exists regardless of circumstances. For me it is the joy of knowing I am loved by God, period. It’s the joy of knowing that I’m forgiven when I screw up. It’s knowing grace and mercy will always shower me when I need it. It’s the joy of knowing that Heaven will be mine someday.

A couple of weeks ago I posted a series of essays about happiness where I suggested that happiness is fleeting at best, that happiness is never the result of searching for it. That happiness finds us, not the other way around.

Joy is a feeling I can always experience because unlike happiness, it doesn’t depend on my circumstances. God’s love, forgiveness, grace, and mercy are mine no matter what. Even when I don’t feel them, they are there. Even in my darkest hour, they are there. They are the one and only constant in my life.

Wherever you are today in your life, whatever your struggle, they are there for you as well.

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
