the week in review and silly political controversies

Last week was a nice week.

Spend most of the week at the cabin. It was relaxing and I thought of a new term I want to post about in the future. I like this phrase a lot. I think I’m the first to coin it. I don’t recall ever reading it anywhere. So don’t accuse me of plagiarism, OK? (That was a joke prompted by the recent hullabaloo about Malania Trump’s speech.) If you want to know what the phrase is, you’ll just have to to be sure to “visit” me next week.

Anyway, Monday I posted about change, a favorite theme of mine. I pointed out that for followers of Christ, it’s change directed by God that really matters. People are pretty good at changing what they want to change but aren’t so good at changing what needs to be changed. But when God is the author of the change, it’s authentic change. And that’s the change that is lasting.

Tuesday I wrote about how authentic change begins. I shared that I think it begins with asking God to reveal to us what he sees as needing to be changed.

I wrote: For change to be God-honoring, it first has to be God-led. 

Wednesday I took a side trip, so to speak, and posted a portion from Isaiah 40: 12 -14. The week of political drama was getting on my nerves so I reminded us who’s holding this world in his hands.

Thursday I asked the question, “Are there some things we shouldn’t change?”  The answer is “Yes. Yes, there is.” If you haven’t read that post yet, I urge you to take a few minutes. It’s short but shares an important truth.

Friday I shared from my well-worn copy of “My Utmost For His Highest”, by Oswald Chambers.  It was about knowing God’s will enough so that we don’t have to be asking direction for every little thing.
