why is it called a four way stop when no one stops?

So today’s melt-down is about four-way stops. I can’t tell you how many times lately I’ve come to a four-way stop, waited my turn like a polite driver and then when it’s my turn, someone else who got to the stop way after I did, takes off across the intersection. This is getting old.

It’s like they don’t even see me. The worst part is these drivers are the same ones who run red lights. and in that case, someone can get killed.  More and more people are driving erratically. It isn’t just young teenagers either. That’s why we all need to drive defensively as much as possible. No longer can we assume that other drivers are going to follow the rules.
